India = China? (Re: The PayPal India Problem)

At this point, I am not proud to be a citizen of the largest democracy in the world.

no paypal in India anymoreJust got an email from PayPal indicating that the RBI (Reserve Bank of India), won’t let them continue to function here in the way they have been. Why? Hey, they’re the government of India, they don’t really have to make a lot of sense in order to block foreign companies’ businesses here and thereby abandon hundreds of thousands of their own citizens who depend on it to make a living — whether directly or indirectly.

This has happened only days after the Government of India threatened to shut down BlackBerry services and issued notices to Google’s Gmail and Skype. No blackberry in India is a real possibility

This has happened for a second time this year, and I am disappointed, not at PayPal, but at the RBI and the Indian “System”.

In a democracy, I am supposed to have a say in these things. I don’t. I feel like I’m in China. I had Chinese food for lunch and then again for dinner yesterday and now, without a visa and plane ticket, I am there. In a country where the government is the master of it’s slave citizens.

Apples and iPads

ipadWhen the iPad was first demoed everyone was saying that it’s not really that cool and it doesn’t have this or that feature – no point in wasting money on it.

But now that it’s out, everybody is like – iPad!!!, it’s so cool, this is going to be a game changer, I totally want one, I so got one, I’ve ordered one” What? Why?!

Life, immortality and death.

Saw “The man from earth”, “The fountain” and claire from heroes jumping from 500ft high and not dying.

I’m thinking about the meaning of life, death and all that now. Everyone has accepted the big bang theory as the answer to the origin of the universe question. But what caused it?

Think of life as a form of energy. Did some kind of energy cause the expansion of the universe to happen?

If I die, what happens to the ‘life’ that I am? We know that the amount of energy in existence is always the same… This post is probably full of BS. Sorry. Life/death thoughts are stupid. And confusing.

I miss blogging

I used to blog a lot, on finaltag and here. haven’t blogged for months. I miss blogging!

26th January

India celebrated it’s 60th year as a republic today, and although I should be, that’s not what I am most glad about, what I am most happy about is, sadly, that no one bombed trains or gunned people down in the name of religion or whatever today.

now only if the forces and governments of the country can keep every day as peaceful as today.

Stupid smoking ban

Here in india, most big restaurants and coffee shops used to have open, ventilated seating for smokers and closed, more air-conditioned areas for non-smokers. This, however, didn’t stop the stupid fucked-up liberal government to ban smoking completely in restaurants starting today. The problem is, I can’t eat without smoking in between, so why don’t I just kill my self already? Hey, It’s my choice to smoke, bitches, and if I’m not harming you .. why the F can’t I smoke?
